Short Mat

MILFORD SHORT MAT BOWLS

At Milford Bowls Club from the end of September to the middle of April, when the outdoor season has finished, we have two short mats in the clubhouse on which we play league games and friendlies. We also have organised roll-ups on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2pm- 4.30pm and Thursday evenings, 7pm-9.30pm, except when we have a league game. Unless we have club social activities scheduled the mats are left down for general practice sessions.

We play in the Surrey Two Wood Triples League on Mondays, the Merrow One Mat League on alternate Tuesdays and the Woking Borough League on Wednesday evenings.

If you have never played short mat then why not come along to one of our Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon sessions and give it a try; if you can’t make those just make contact and we will sort out a time and date for you. It is great fun, and no previous experience or knowledge of bowls is required. The more you play, the better you get and your skill level will grow as you learn techniques and tactics. Short mat bowls is played with the same shoes and bowls as used outdoors. If you haven’t bowled before clean flat soled shoes are needed, and we can supply bowls for you to borrow. We break for a welcome cup of tea halfway.

Coaching is available should you want it, for both new and experienced players, it is tailored to needs.

Leagues

The Merrow League played at Merrow Methodist Church on Tuesday evenings.
